Just released on 5/17/19 and narrated by Amanda Cofsky. Read the blog here, watch the video here, download the new version here!
My favorites from this release are:

  • The new Performance Analyzer Pane! Shows you in milliseconds the amount of time needed to query and display each visualization on a report page. This is fantastic to help identify slow performing DAX and/or visualizations. It also lets you copy the query and paste it into notepad (or any other text editor) and examine the DAX query being run. You can also export all the information at once. Excellent job, Microsoft Power BI Team!
  • The new Filter Pane allows you to re-sort the list of fields, and you can drag/drop to anywhere within the list.
  • And if you are so inclined, you can edit the JSON category information for the Filter Pane (background color, border, etc.) in the Power BI Theme. This is obviously an advanced feature.
  • If you use Keyboard shortcuts for navigation, there are some improvements there.
  • YES! You can select whether data labels on line charts go above or below the line, to help differentiate which line the data label applies to!
  • FINALLY – you can change the font size of the KPI visualization main value to make it larger (probably not) or smaller (probably YES!)
  • Key Influencers had an update!
    • Will now automatically BIN dimensions (group in ranges of values) and report on those values. This is very useful!
    • You can change colors of visualization components (like the bubble color)
    • And they’ve reportedly improved using this visual on Mobile.
  • Automatic Date Tables – if you always load your own date table, you can turn off Power BI automatically creating one for you. This will reduce the size of your app.
  • ALLSELECTED DAX statement has been extended to allow multiple arguments similar to the ALL statement.
  • — VISUALIZATIONS CHANGES —
  • ArcGIS map now loads faster and will tell you when geocoding fails and what failed (like country name).
  • MapBox map had many new features added.
  • ValQ Modern Digital Planning by Visual BI Solutions – (see 23:00 through 34:00 in video) a visualization with nodes (think drill down with expansion to the right showing a new node), and you can use a slider to show “what-if” analysis for the values displayed. This visualization helps you run Scenarios to gauge enterprise impact when setting one or more values up or down. Very useful for accounting, manufacturing, operations and others. Click here for more information and Pricing.
  • Advanced Graph Visual by Zoom Charts– interconnected nodes where you can move the positioning of one node and the others float/move accordingly. Click here for more information and Pricing.
  • Walkers Animated Pictogram – clicking on one item animates movement into other areas. Might be useful for live demos.
  • Treemap Bar Chart by MAQ Software – Think “display a treemap within a single bar in a bar chart”. Free.
  • LASTLY – automatic query cancellation. Zoom to 44:00 to listen to how this works to improve speed of your report.
